One of the great things about living in Hawai’i is that many of my favorite activities are FREE! If it were just me I could hike and go to the beach everyday. However, I have two little kids who are into so many different things and I try to find events and activities that provide wonderful learning opportunities. Things can get expensive though so I’m always on the lookout for FREE things to do with them around the island…it’s my way of keeping my family on budget. And you guys, if you just do a little research you’ll be amazed at how many free activities/events you’ll find for the entire family to enjoy!
For example, this Saturday, November 3rd from 9am-3pm Leeward Community College will be hosting the Leeward Discovery Fair. This is a fun event where the entire family will be able to discover, explore, and create in a world of interactive exploration! There will be more than 50 hands-on activities which will include quicksand goo, bubblicious geometry, rainbow water, gene in a bottle, AND all educational activities are FREE! There will also be make & take crafts, a pottery wheel, a fossil scavenger hunt, science magic art projects, DIY maracas, and so much more! Did I mention it’s FREE admission and FREE parking?!
There will also be great food booths and several food options for only 50 cents! And the first 500 families to check in at the information booth will win a special 50th Anniversary prize! Prizes range from school supplies to $50 gift cards! For more information go to http://www.leeward.hawaii.edu/Fair
You guys don’t want to miss out on this free family friendly event! Also, be sure to follow us on Facebook where I’m always posting about events on island.
