Aloha everyone! A couple months ago I wrote a blog and gave tips about how you could save money at the grocery store. My tips: 1) Budget, 2) Plan a menu, and 3) Try to go shopping only once a week. Did any of you try those tips? While these three tips definitely help me save money they also require a little planning ahead.
What about those times when you have an emergency? For example, I was on my way to go pick up my daughter from school the other day when I realized I forgot to take meat out of the freezer! I was so mad at myself. And let’s be real, if I’m running into the grocery store chances are that I’m not leaving with just one item. Once there I’ll remember we also need flour, syrup, canned green beans, after school snacks…oh my goodness, the list of things we need on that last minute grocery trip grows by the second.
Luckily, I’ve started keeping my coupons in my car at all times. So, when I find myself running to the store on the fly I’m also able to save money with my coupons. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the store and picked up items that I have a coupon for at home. Knowing that I could have saved us some money if I’d only remembered my coupons is the worst feeling. And not grabbing an item because I left a coupon at home is not an option. I’d rather pay full price than have to make a second trip to the store. My tip: keep your coupons in your vehicle at all times! You’ll be surprised how much money you can save by simply being ready.
