Social Distancing? No Problem!

Social distancing has been in effect for several weeks now. For those who are “people persons” this can be really hard to handle. As we continue to navigate through the different measures taken to ensure that we all stay safe, we do miss spending time with friends and family. With the weather continuing to get nicer, there is the want to get outdoors and engage in different activities.

While we can’t do everything right now, there are several things that we can do from home to grow and continue with our social distancing. There are several different holidays in May, and while we cannot always be together, we can still celebrate and uplift each other. Here are our tips for May!

  1. Find a pen-pal – This can either be done through email, or regular snail-mail. Even if you are already friends with the ones that you choose to correspond with, it can be a fun way to talk about new ideas, get to know each other on a deeper level, and make plans for future outings!
  2. Set times for FaceTime calls – Spending time talking to family and friends can bring a new outlook to the day. Arrange a time to talk, and spend some “time” together! You can even watch a movie together through different streaming devices, or DVD! Get creative and plan those “get togethers” while still keeping safe and healthy.
  3. Surprise Mom on Mothers Day – While Mother’s Day is right around the corner, you don’t have to spend lots of money or plan a lavish meal. Do a picnic in the yard, or even the living room. Shower her with homemade cards and gifts. If your mother is not living in the same home as you, give her a call! There are some super cute ideas online for small gifts – and the kids will enjoy the art!
  4. Take a nature walk – While following the mandates that have been laid down, doing some different nature walks is a great way to get out, soak up that vitamin D, and recharge your inner batteries. Taking care of your physical health is just as important as your mental health! Kids will love it to! Find some nature bingo cards (or create one) and get them busy searching for different critters and plants!

These are just a few ideas that you can use from the comfort of your home! Creating new and exciting games, finishing that spring cleaning, and binge watching those shows that have been waiting forever, are also time fillers! Social distancing is not anyone’s idea of a great time, but it can still be rewarding. Maybe this is your time to dive into that new project, finish writing that book, or spending more time with those that you love.

This won’t last forever! If you have other tips and tricks that you are using during social distancing, we would love to hear them!
