How to Avoid Dry Skin when Flying

Your mouth feels as if it’s full of cotton balls, your skin looks and feels as dry as the Sahara… completely depleted of any moisture. You feel as if you’ve been wandering through the desert for days when, reality is, you’ve only been flying for a only few hours 🤣

We’ve all experienced the dryness that occurs after flying. Fortunately, you can avoid that with these great tips from AVEENO!

Apply Lotion or Moisturizer Before You Fly

This is so important as it locks in moisture before you fly!

Apply  Sunscreen

After moisturizing, apply sunscreen… because, believe it or not, you can still be exposed to dangerous and damaging UV rays, which can also cause excess dryness.

Lip Balm

Be sure to have a chapstick or lip moisturizer that contains SPF,  to protect your lips from the sun and to keep them moist and hydrated.

Avoid Alcohol

As much as flying and enjoying a nice adult beverage sounds delightful… it is best to avoid alcohol as it can cause  dehydration and leave you feeling parched and dry on your flight.

Drink Water

Drinking water seems like a no brainer but airplanes can sometimes be stingy with their water, so be sure to bring an empty water bottle and fill up once past security…and drink up!

Apply a Moisturizer During Your Flight

You can bring a small lotion (as long as its under 3 oz and in a plastic bag) in your carry-on  and apply it during the flight, this will help your skin  feel nourished and  hydrated.

Rinse and Repeat

Once you have  landed,  find a place you  can rinse off  your skin and apply more moisturizer to lock in the moisture and keep drinking water to stay hydrated.

By following these easy tips, you can avoid that dreaded  “airplane skin”  from the get go, and be able to  enjoy your trip!
