With family in town visiting, you could say we’re in full swing tour guide mode. Normally, I would take my guests hiking and show them all the amazing beaches; however, my mom and my auntie can’t swim and they both have had ankle injuries that prevent them from doing any strenuous exercise. So, we’ve had a blast showing them some local gems. Ranking top on their list of favorite things they’ve done while visiting is the Tropical Farms Macadamia Nut Farm and the Ali’i Tour offered at the Nut Farm.
Tropical Farms Macadamia Nut Farm is located near Kualoa Ranch so we took the scenic coastline drive to get there. We arrived around 10am and sampled an array of different flavored macadamia nuts, which included coffee glazed macadamia nuts and cinnamon glazed macadamia nuts. We also browsed cute gift shops then stood in line to purchase our tickets for the Ali’i Tour, which was by far our favorite part of our visit!
Our guide demonstrated how to make fire and he did a brief performance with a fire staff. He next demonstrated how to cut the husk of the coconut and how to crack the coconut open with a rock. We were then able to sample the coconut juice and coconut shavings. It was a unique experience and I highly recommend going if you haven’t yet! His jokes and sense of humor really made this experience memorable! Plus, we were taken on a short bus tour of the grounds, which included seeing many movie sets and all their fruit/plant orchards.
